Industry Trends / Packaged Devices CSP chip scale package or will be the first in the flash and backlight market
LED packaging technology has a new face. The chip scale package (CSP), which is quite familiar to semiconductor manufacturers, is gradually penetrating into the LED field. LEDs for mobile phone flash and LCD TV backlights have begun to introduce this technology.
It is understood that in 2016, LED modules using CSP package accounted for less than 1% of the total LED module market, but because CSP package can achieve a smaller package, it also helps to improve power density and improve heat dissipation, in unit area. In the provision of higher illumination, based on the above advantages, the development prospect of CSP module LED is worth looking forward to. By 2021, CSP will account for the proportion of the overall LED module package, and is expected to climb to 5.6%.
In fact, some LED applications have begun to import CSP modules, such as the flash of smart phones and the LED backlights used in some LCD TVs, have switched to CSP modules, and then CSP modules have the opportunity to gradually penetrate into general lighting and lights. And other application areas.
2016 China LED chip market grew by 11.54% year-on-year
According to the statistics of the High-tech Research Institute LED Research Institute (GGII), the market size of China's LED chip industry in 2016 exceeded RMB 14.5 billion. The year-on-year growth was 11.54%, an increase of 3.2 percentage points over 2015.
After experiencing investment heat and overcapacity, in early 2016, Jingdian shut down 25% of production capacity, small factory supply reduction and downstream demand drive, LED chip supply and demand structure gradually adjusted to make the LED chip industry gradually return to rational.
The price of the cliff-type decline has been alleviated. In the second half of 2016, due to the rise in raw material prices and the change in supply and demand, chip makers such as Jingyuan Optoelectronics, Sanan Optoelectronics and Huacan Optoelectronics have increased their prices.
The High-tech Research Institute LED Research Institute (GGII) believes that the price of LED chips has stabilized and rebounded in 2016, and the market demand is in good condition. However, the LED chip manufacturers Sanan Optoelectronics, Huacan Optoelectronics, and Aoyang Shunchang have a huge expansion scale. The small and medium-sized chip factories did not dare to act blindly, and they were in a wait-and-see attitude. On the other hand, the narrowing of MOCVD subsidies further exacerbated this trend.
We predict that the growth rate of domestic LED chip capacity will gradually slow down after the expansion of the large-scale factory. The domestic LED chip pattern will maintain the two strong positions of Sanan Optoelectronics and Mulinsen.
Domestic LED phosphor market pattern will be basically finalized
After nearly a decade of development, China's LED packaging industry has a considerable output value, and has become one of the world's major LED packaging production bases. The LED phosphor industry, which is matched with the LED package, has also developed rapidly with the LED industry.
According to the survey of high-tech LEDs, as of the end of 2016, there are about 50 LED phosphor companies in China, mainly distributed in various types of Chinese, Taiwanese, and US-owned phosphor companies. There are about 15 LED phosphor companies of a certain scale, and the monthly sales volume of LED phosphor companies in some enterprises has exceeded 1 ton.
In 2017, LED upstream and downstream will continue to develop towards the centralization of “bigger and stronger, stronger”. Most of the domestic LED packaging factories are also expanding production plans, and the domestic LED packaging scale will continue to grow.
Correspondingly, the market demand for LED matching materials in 2017 will continue to increase. However, as the profits of LED phosphors decline and prices fall, small factories will stop production, and phosphor companies will also develop in a centralized direction. In the next 2-3 years, the domestic LED phosphor market will be basically shaped.
2016 China LED indoor lighting total output value increased by 32.1%
According to statistics from the High-Tech Research Institute LED Research Institute (GGII), more than 75% of the world's LED applications are concentrated in China. In 2016, the total output value of LED indoor lighting in China was 223.1 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 32.1%.
Among them: LED lamp market output value 48.7 billion, an increase of 26.8%; bulb lamp market output value of 67.9 billion, an increase of 23.7%; spotlight market output value of 32.9 billion, an increase of 27.7%; downlight market output value of 27.9 billion, an increase of 65.4 %.
In 2016, China's LED indoor lighting maintained a high-speed development trend. With the continuous maturity of LED application technology, the continuous improvement of quality, the price continued to drop drastically, and the efforts of many LED companies, it is expected that the LED indoor lighting market will be in the next few years. Maintain a rapid development trend.
China's total LED lighting exports increased by 88% in January
According to the statistics of the High-tech LED Industry Research Institute (GGII), the total export value of LED lighting products in China in January 2017 reached US$ 1.689 billion, an increase of 88% year-on-year. In the main categories of lights analyzed by GGII, there has been a similar increase, which reflects to some extent the warming situation of China's LED lighting industry.
According to the statistics of the High-tech LED Industry Research Institute (GGII), the number of LED lighting products exported in China reached 1.56 billion in January 2017, not 108% compared with 2016.
The Gaogong LED Research Institute believes that the amount and quantity of China's LED lighting exports increased significantly in January 2017, mainly for the following reasons:
1) The combined effect of exchange rate factors and the effects of domestic policies;
2) External demand picks up. Driven by the seasonal recovery in consumption and production and operation activities of major overseas economies, China's export growth rate began to increase in January.
